Amy Dahlgren of Dahlgren Dressage and Samantha Silver, her student and friend, will be your primary authors of the blogs you read. Most blogs are co-written by Amy and Samantha.
To begin this blog, we wanted to share some insight about ourselves so you know whose thoughts you are reading!
Amy began riding at age 9 and decided that dressage was right for her when she was 16. Amy has shown through Intermediare-I but has schooled all of the Grand Prix movements. Please see her About Us page for a full bio.  Amy currently balances a very busy work and family life with her horse career – she is a practicing Emergency Medicine physician and married with four children. She decided to go professional and open up Dahlgren Dressage in 2017 and is excited to teach in the central Virginia area.
Samantha began riding at 9 years old and switched to straight dressage when she was 28 after years of doing hunters/jumpers and eventing. She bought her horse, Jimmie Echo, an off-track Thoroughbred, in 2010 and they are together learning the ropes of dressage.  They spent 2016 competing at Second Level and hope to show Third Level in 2017. “Echo” is a super laid back kind of dude who has happily gone from discipline to discipline as Samantha’s interests have changed.  Samantha was a die-hard lower level eventer until she met Amy.  Watching Amy ride Bo and school the Prix St. Georges was inspiring. After Samantha had the opportunity to ride Bo she was hooked! Samantha was amazed at how Amy was able to influence Bo’s body and how effortless it appeared.
We are very excited to blog and hope that you will find our thoughts and ideas interesting. Please feel free to comment and let us know if you have any questions or if there is any specific topic you would like us to write about!
